The 11th Day of Christmas Joy
Running....
| After a long run with Stacy & Linda at the beach – good times! |
What started out as a hate turned into one of the biggest joys
in my life….who would of thought? My journey from hate to a love for running began
because the Hubs suggested we do a triathlon as a form of recreational
companionship. Running, for me, was the weakest (and most hated) of the three. I
sucked at it – I couldn’t even make it a quarter of mile in
the beginning. After we did our first sprint triathlon together, I was bit by
the tri-bug and since running was the weakest, I decided to focus on it the
most. I signed up for 5k’s every month just to make myself train during the
week. I somehow convinced my friend, Stacy to try a triathlon which now meant I
had a running buddy as well….bonus!
Together we would train and run these 5k’s along with a few
tri’s thrown in. We both felt like a 5k was a marathon and awed over these “crazy”
people that would run marathons. What we never expected was that the more we
ran, the easier it got and the next thing we knew we were running a 10k, thinking
about a half marathon and feeling like big dogs just talking about it. Until… one day
in July, during a run, Stacy made the executive decision that we were indeed
going to actually run a half marathon…Oh Shit!
Six months later, we found ourselves, standing in the middle
of a parking lot at o’dark thirty in the morning, in the middle of Disney World,
waiting for our 1st half marathon to begin….totally
crazy!
Since then, we have logged many miles and continue to do so.
We are always looking for another challenge that promises to bring us a lot of
fun and…
JOY!
